Gabe is a natural born talker. Like Sloan, he likes to tell his loved ones everything he knows about. Gabe also likes to develop inside jokes and keep a narrative going. Therefore, when Sloan came up with the idea of making a podcast, he told her, "I can be the person you talk to so you don't feel weird talking to yourself." Bingo.
